Is Alcohol a problem?

We at Alcoholics Anonymous know what it’s like not to be able to stop after a few drinks. Our drinking problems were getting out of control. Finally we sought help. Alcoholics Anonymous was a lifesaver for many of us. Today most of us are living normal, happy  lives and are again useful members of society.

AA began in 1935, when two drunks started to talk with each other about their problems. They found that by talking with another person who understood from his own experience, they could stay sober one day at a time. From this start, AA has grown into a worldwide Fellowship. It has more than 2 million  members in over 160 countries. There are meetings in more than 100,000 different AA groups. By attending meetings and talking with other alcoholics, we change and rebuild our lives. If you drink long enough alcoholism is a fatal illness. It’s progressive. It never gets better – only worse.

We welcome anyone who thinks they may have a problem with alcohol. By talking with other people who know where you are coming from, you will find out if Alcoholics Anonymous is for you. Spend an hour at one of our meetings. This can be the best decision you ever make. Don’t put it off till tomorrow. We were experts at procrastination when we were drinking! “The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.”

Attendance is free. There are no dues or fees. We are self supporting through our own contributions. And this doesn’t change. Ever! If you want to try, just show up before the start of the meeting. If you don’t know how to get there, please contact one of us as listed or send an email. Details are on the meeting page. Click HERE for a short video:

Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

How can Al-Anon help me?

Many who come to Al-Anon/Alateen are in despair, feeling hopeless, unable to believe that things can ever change. We want our lives to be different, but nothing we have done has brought about change. We all come to Al-Anon because we want and need help.
